The World Coal Association (WCA) is an international nonprofit, nongovernmental association based in London, United Kingdom. It was created to represent the global coal industry. The association was formerly called the World Coal Institute (WCI) but changed its name in November 2010.
The following is submitted by the World Coal Institute (WCI) in response to the World Bank Energy Strategy Consultation process. The submission initially provides general comments from the WCI on the role of coal and overall World Bank energy strategy before addressing the six areas for comment outlined in the consultation process.
